RCA Membership and SAM's Club Memberships -

The RCA sponsors, in cooperation
with Sam's Club, RCA "business" Sam's Club memberships available to all RCA
members for $35 per year. This entitles you to two cards per household.
The price is the same as "regular"
Sam's membership you can obtain "off the street," but the cards through RCA are
"business" cards, which entitles you to shop from 7 AM - 10 AM every weekday
morning, and from 7 AM - 9:30 AM Saturday, when the store is reserved for
business card holders only. Very relaxed shopping.
The RCA offers Sam's Cards with every
RCA annual membership drive in September.
At that time, you may request a Sam's
Card by including an additional $35 with your RCA membership dues (currently
$10), when you return your dues. You must include your phone number. Sam's Club
cards for *New* requests are obtained around November 1, and the Sam's Card is
good until the following October 31. The RCA will notify you when your new Sam's
account number(s) are obtained. Then, simply take the number(s) to any Sam's Club
store's membership desk, and Sam's will issue you a permanent, plastic card,
which you will use from then on, even if you renew in subsequent years.
As of October, 2004, Sam’s now requires
a driver’s license number and date-of-birth to obtain a Sam's Card. Also, Sam’s
will ask for your e-mail address, but you don’t have to provide one. Sam’s also
checks that for households with two cards, both persons have the same address.
Sam’s is doing this to reduce the number of fraudulent cards.
Existing RCA/Sam's Club *renewals*
are done in early October each year, so the renewal process is very easy. In
practice, the RCA renews *all* existing RCA/Sam's accounts in October, and then
deletes those RCAers who chose not to renew in November. This way, everyone is
assured that their Sam's accounts remain active (unless the RCA does not receive
your renewal by November!).

While this store is in
Gaithersburg, at 610 N.
Frederick Avenue, it is very easy to get to: right turns *only*! Go west on Randolph
Road, which becomes Montrose Road after Rockville Pike. Go north on I-270 (right
turn). Go north about 5 miles, and exit east on MD route 124 (right turn). This
is also Montgomery Village Avenue. Turn right at the first light (Frederick
Avenue). Then make the first right into the first driveway (shopping center
parking lot). Go about 100 yards, and turn right into Sams.
